The objective of this program is to provide students with introductory knowledge in both technical and administrative skills. The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level administrative positions such as medical office managers, executive medical administrative assistants, hospital admissions coordinators, medical record managers, and entry level administrative positions in clinics, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
This degree level program provides students with general education courses as well as program specific coursework in areas including: medical terminology, computer applications, processing of medical records, billing and insurance forms. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the health industry laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and regulatory bodies that govern the healthcare professions, such as HIPAA, OSHA, and JCAHO. Courses also provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate effective communication, customer relations, and organizational and administrative skills.
